Beaches of Sifnos
Sifnos is an island with beaches that satisfy all tastes. Rocky coasts, pebble beaches and golden sandy beaches. Some of them are accessible by road (like Kamares, Cheronissos, Vathy, Platys Gialos, Vroulidia, Faros), other by picturesque paths or by boat (Gialoudia, Fykiada, Kontos etc).
Paths of Sifnos
The whole island is full of small paths, which wait for the aspiring travelers to enjoy them. Many of these paths, on the perimeter of the island, lead to many magic little bays and to beautiful retreats for the lovers of adventure or for those who desire to know the island inch by inch.
Villages of Sifnos
The capital of Sifnos is Apollonia since 1836, which is also called Stavri and which is sprawling out amphitheatrically along three hills in the center of Sifnos, while at the west there is the port, Kamares. Northwards from Apollonia there is Artemonas, a jewel of Sifnos, with neoclassic mansions, with gardens and flowery courtyards, while from the one side of Apollonia stands Ano Petali and from the other Katavati and Exambella. At the east of the island, on an abrupt rock with excellent panoramic view to the ocean, there is the historic village Kastro, one of the most picturesque regions of Sifnos. Faros is situated at the S.E of Sifnos and it is considered the safest port of the island, of which it has been the official port up to 1883. It took its name after the lighthouse (in Greek: faros) that has been installed at the entrance of the port for navigation reasons. Other beautiful coastal summer resorts are Platis Gialos, Chrissopigi, Vathi and Cheronissos.
